Why get a verified MyGovID account?

You can unlock all the benefits of MyWelfare by verifying your MyGovID account on MyGovID.ie.

Advantages of having a verified account include:

  • View and manage your claims online
  • View your payment history
  • Safe and secure interaction with officers
  • Access all online MyWelfare services
  • Shorter and quicker personalised application and renewal forms

What do I need?

In order to verify your MyGovID account you will need the following:

  • A basic MyGovID account
  • A Public Services Card
  • A phone that has been verified with the Department of Social Protection

What if I do not have a Public Services Card?

You can get a public services card online or in person.

The online option is done using the MyGovID app. You can get a Public Services Card and a verified MyGovID account via this process.

What if my mobile phone number is not verified?

Your mobile number is verified during either your PSC appointment or online journey

If you have changed your number since then you can get your number verified by calling the support team on 0818 927 999.

To verify your MyGovID account

  • Log on to MyGovID with your basic account
  • Click on Verify Your Account button
  • Input your PSC card information

A code will be sent to your verified mobile phone number. Once you receive this 6-digit code, input  the code and you will now have a verified account.
